Today I ran over an iguana on the road and killed it.

SORRY IGUANA I DIDN’T MEAN TO. PLEASE FORGIVE ME.

I bought shoes again today.
A little irritated with the fact, but I’ll get over it once my feet are wrapped in the pillows of clouds that are the inside of these shoes.

The shoes are from a line made by young orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Taryn Rose. I came across it while researching comfortable shoes for Paris a while back, and they got me really curious. Basically I found them unattractive and pricey. Because of this strange combination, I assumed they must be extremely comfortable. So when I found these really soft and tall red wedges that I didn’t absolutely hate on sale, I snatched them up. Good reason to buy as any, no?

I NEED THESE IN MY LIFE. I DO.

Proenza Schouler Fall 09, please come to my house and hang out on my feet. Thank you.

Last night I got an email announcing YOU BY CROCS ARE BACK! Such excitement! The one pair I have is practically the magic shoes, and I had been hoping for another jackpot in the lower-heel category.

Meh.
Realistically, these are perfect for me. Super comfortable low strappy heels in a neutral color? Daily default shoe potential = 10/ Excitement factor = 0.5

These are a bit more exciting, albeit the orthopedic velcro straps. Hey, I’m always up for practicality. Plus, those miniature strap buckles have always been hateful towards my clumsy fingers. Excitement = 7 / Usability = 2.5 / Need = 0
With only 4 new conservative styles, minimal color selections, and lower price point; the new You by Crocs line is a departure from their past collections of LIME GREEN and SHOCKING PINK shoes for the young crowd.
Strangely, I’m not in love with either of them, but I want them both. Hmmmmm… Is this their new strategy at work?

Night time, after everyone goes to bed, is when I joyfully wear gorgeous and painful heels around the house. Occasionally, they go with me and my pajamas to walk doggie.
Day time is when I wear the same pair of rubber shoes 365 days a year so I can climb on ladders or run around in the mud and other dirty things.
It’s no surprise that TMIML doesn’t understand my shoe requirement. He says, “But you always wear the ONE pair of rubber shoes! Why do you keep buying all these heels???”
I could explain to him the importance of my nocturnal needs and the things that go on while he sleeps. Or I could get a storage unit.

Look at all that space, hmmm?

I went to look at the expensive Marni shoes again. They were still expensive. I didn’t re-try them, but I’m pretty sure I still can’t walk in them. Instead, I tried on a pair of Alaia shoes (below) and nearly fell on my face. They didn’t look good on me.

Today a cashier asked if I was married. I said, “Excuse me?” He asked again pointing at my ring. Then he asked what kind of ring it was. I said platinum. He said, “That’s really hard. Platinum is hard.” I nodded in agreement, and so did the person waiting in line.

I went to the store and tried on a lot of shoes. I only liked one pair, they were Marni. They made my legs and feet look nice, but they were expensive. Also, I couldn’t walk in them, so I didn’t buy.
Then I went to another store and liked another pair of shoes. They were Calvin Klein and inexpensive. I couldn’t walk in them either, but I bought anyway.

I know I’ve been neglecting the blog, but has it really been a month? Shame! During this past supposed month, I have been obsessively focusing on www.optarevintage.com site, even though the sporadic postings may not suggest this intense effort. Check it out. Video and everything!
It’s Memorial day weekend, and I am thrilled to skip having a social life and sit here trying to finish all the things I have been putting off for who knows how long. The various bulleted items on the imaginary to-do list are constantly floating around clouding up my head. Responsibilities are getting behind, and I am starting to generally feel like an asshole.
Exciting news: some rearranging occured in the office, and now I can physically access all of my shoes. Yay!
Ok, back to work.
